EXPERIENCED Animal Care Associate

Are you a pet lover looking for a paw-sitively fun job? All About Pets, located on the south end of Hilton Head Island, is looking for an experienced Animal Care Associate to join our team.

Experience Required: We are hiring experienced applicants only. Candidates must have a minimum of 6 months professional experience working with animals in a kennel, veterinary, daycare, or boarding setting.

Pay: Starting base $18/hr + tips (typically $3-5/hr additional). Pay is commensurate with experience — we are willing to pay top dollar for top-notch candidates.

What We're Looking For:

• Local — within 30 min of the south end of the island
• 6+ months hands-on professional animal care experience (required)
• Reliable, detail-oriented, physically able to lift 50 lbs and handle animals of all sizes
• Strong communicator and team player, comfortable in a fast-paced environment

Schedule:

• Hours vary M-F 7am-9pm, Sat/Sun 7am-4pm & 8-9pm
• Rotating holidays required
  
  

Responsibilities:
Feeding/watering, walking and exercising dogs, kennel and play area cleaning, medication administration, behavioral monitoring, client check-in/check-out and communication, record keeping, bathing, enrichment activities, and cat socialization/care.

Responsibilities

• Consult with clients to understand grooming preferences and ensure expectations are met
• Perform safe, high-quality grooming services for dogs of various breeds and sizes
• Use our user-friendly software to manage appointments and client records
• Manage your own grooming appointments, including scheduling, confirmations, and follow-up communication
• Maintain clear, consistent, and professional communication with clients regarding services, expectations, and policies
• Ensure clients understand vaccination requirements and verify that proper vaccination records are on file for all dogs entering the grooming salon
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area in accordance with safety standards
• Communicate effectively with team members across all service departments (daycare, boarding, and retail) to ensure seamless care and a positive experience for every pet
• Demonstrate a team-oriented mindset by supporting colleagues, sharing information, and contributing to a collaborative workplace

Qualifications

• Minimum of six months of professional dog grooming experience
• Ability to confidently groom dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments
• Strong animal handling skills and calm demeanor, even with high-energy dogs
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Proven ability to work independently while maintaining a strong team mentality
• Dependable, punctual, and professional in appearance and conduct
